The Sam Adams Alliance Announces 2008 Sammies Awards

Prizes totaling $35,000 will be awarded to outstanding citizen leaders

CHICAGO – The Sam Adams Alliance announced the 2008 Sammies, a series of awards for outstanding citizen leadership and creativity, today.

The Sammies honor local leaders making significant contributions to liberty in the following categories:

  • Sunshine Award – most successful government transparency effort
  • Tea Party Award – most successful  grassroots event
  • Modern Day Sam Award – most successful effort overall
  • Best Local-Subject Blogger Post regularly on a blog that covers local or state issues: $5,000 cash prize.
  • Video Documentary – one short documentary-style OR one short satire about local or state government issues: $5,000 cash prizes for each. Videos must be under five minutes in length.


"The successful efforts of last year’s Sammies winners reminded us how important it is for people to stand up for accountable and limited government in their communities," said Bob Costello, president of The Sam Adams Alliance.
